Bithday 2008

Birthday Gifts to me (b-day was last month).
My mom gave me the Lucky Bamboo. I think they look great
next to the Decorative Japanese plate.

The Hubby gave me the gorgeous flowers along with
100 roses (darn I didn’t take a picture of them).
I love receiving fresh flowers & plants
especially during our cold, snowy Colorado winters.

Super Bowl Sunday

American Football Chat:

Why do we call it football? I’m sure there is some very good historical reasoning behind this but American’s don’t really care, they just like the game & after all, there is some kicking of the ball that goes on during the game. It does make more sense that in the rest of the world “football” is considered to be “soccer” but once we get stuck on a term, I guess it is difficult to change it.

Mostly the Super Bowl is a good excuse to get together with friends & family so we can party & eat. On this day, Americans consume 30.4 million pounds of snack food across the US. This includes but is not limited to: 13.2 million pounds of avocados (we like our guacamole), 11 million pounds of potato chips & 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips (chips go well with guacamole). 4.3 million pounds of pretzels, 3.8 million pounds of popcorn & 2.5 million pounds of snack nuts. Wow! That’s a lot of snacks, not to mention all the beer that is consumed along with all that salty food.

Even if some Americans aren’t interested in the game, they will tune in for the commercials (like me). Most of the commercials are comical & clever. The reason they are so good? $$$Money$$$. Companies paid an average of $2.3 million for a 30-second ad in the 2004 Super Bowl. Ads in 1967 cost a mere $42,000, according to Advertising Age magazine. Ad prices reached $1 million in 1995 and went over $2 million for the first time in 2000. After the hubby read this, he informed me that FOX TV said that it will cost 3.1 million dollars for a commercial during today’s game.

Tire Swing

I think everyone should be provided with a Tire Swing & have a designated 15 to 30 minutes
a day to swing like crazy. Don't you think that would reduce some stress in our world?

OK....Don't faint! I know I have not blogged in a very long time. I think I was hibernating along with the winter. However, my last blog was in September (I think) so I can't even blame it on the winter. Anyhooo, I miss it. I still read all my favorite blogs so I thought I would start blogging once more. 2 things I would like to say:
1) It is snowing & very cold in Colorado.
2) I would like to mention my best buddy Misty as it is her birthday today. My sister friend passed away a couple of years ago of cancer. I would like to say, Misty, I love you, I miss you & I am happy for the time we had together.
